Coordinate Waterproofing Carefully

The wall opening interrupts the original shower surface, making waterproof integration essential. The surrounding substrate must remain stable, clean, and suitable for the selected membrane or sealing system.

Corners, edges, fixing points, and transitions around the niche require particular attention. Installation should follow the waterproofing material supplier’s approved method and applicable local building requirements.

The niche should also be checked for proper orientation. Installing a sloped shelf or drainage structure upside down can cause water to remain inside.
